Welcome to the October 9, 2012 edition of Art Starts

2012 New Hampshire Arts Education Conference: October 19 – 20
The 2012 New Hampshire Arts Education Conference, "Opening Minds to the Arts: Investing in Arts Education for a New Generation,” will take place on October 19 at AVA Gallery & Art Center (Lebanon) and on October 20 at Kearsarge Regional Middle School (North Sutton). The conference features keynotes, workshops, seminars, exhibits & resources and is open to anyone interested in arts education in schools, educational settings and communities.  Special rates are available for high school and college students and partial scholarships are available for NH teachers.

Conference Highlights

Friday, October 19, AVA Gallery & Art Center, Lebanon, NH
Keynote Speaker: Sandra Ruppert, Executive Director of the National Arts Education Partnership will speak about ArtsEdSearch, the nation’s first online arts education research and policy clearinghouse. 

Saturday, October 20, Kearsarge Regional Middle School, North Sutton, NH
Keynote Speaker/Workshops: Colleen Macklin, Game Designer; Associate Professor, Design and Technology, Parsons the New School for Design and Design Director of PETLab, a project of Games for Change and Parsons, supported by the MacArthur Foundation.

The conference is sponsored by: the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts in partnership with the Arts Alliance of Northern NH; AVA Gallery & Art Center; the Kearsarge Regional School District; the Lebanon Opera House; the NH Department of Education; Dartmouth College and the National Endowment for the Arts.
